Anatoly SLIVA


Anatoly Sliva was born in 1940 in the town of Propoysk (now - Slavgorod) in Mogilev region, Belarus.
Served in the Soviet Army.
Upon graduating from the Moscow State University Faculty of Law in 1967, he taught and conducted research.
In 1993 Sliva led a working group, which analyzed and summarized proposals and comments on the draft Constitution of the Russian Federation; participated in finalizing the draft.
In 1993-1996 he was a deputy of the State Duma, where he chaired Committee on the issues of Local Self-Government.
Worked as the Presidential envoy on legal issues at the Council of People's Deputies and the Supreme Council of Russia, Plenipotentiary of the President to the Federation Council.
Served as a Judge of the Constitutional Court from October 14, 1998 to March 18, 2010. 
Ph.D in law.
