Nikolay VITROUK


November 4, 1937 – August 10, 2012
Nikolay Vitrouk was born in 1937 in Tomsk region (Siberia).
In 1959 he graduated from Tomsk State University Faculty of Law.
Vitrouk specialized in legal theory, constitutionalism, human rights, legal cybernetics.
In 1966-1971 he worked in the Ukrainian delegation at the UN Human Rights Commission.
Since 1992 Nikolay Vitrouk has been a representative of Russia at the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
Participated in drafting Soviet Constitution of 1977 and Russian Constitution of 1978.
Served as a Judge of the Constitutional Court from October 30, 1991 to March 20, 2003.
Vice-President of the Court from November 1, 1991 to February 12, 1995. Acting President of the Court from October 6, 1993 года to February 12, 1995.
Doctor of Science in Law, Professor.
Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation. Lawyer Emeritus of the Russian Federation.
